# 19 Clarity First—Cut Chaos, Claim Your Calling

Season #1

Episode 19: Clarity Over Chaos: 3 Questions to Find Your Next Step

Are you mentally foggy, emotionally stretched, or struggling to focus? It may not be a motivation problem. You may simply be overloaded.

When deadlines, expectations, responsibilities, and other people’s needs are all competing for your attention, it can become surprisingly difficult to answer one simple question: What actually matters right now?

In this episode of Goals & Grace, Rev. Dr. Juliet Spencer explores why clarity is one of the most powerful antidotes to overwhelm—and why finding it doesn’t require figuring out your entire future.

Instead, Juliet walks you through three questions designed to quiet the noise and help you identify your next faithful step.

In this episode, you'll discover:

  • Why overwhelm is a signal—not a character flaw

  • How a lack of margin can masquerade as a lack of motivation

  • Why clarity needs to come before confidence, discipline, habits, and planning

  • How identity can help determine your priorities

  • Why everything cannot be a priority at the same time

  • How to identify your “heck yes” and your “absolutely not”

  • Why saying no to something good may be exactly the right decision for this season

  • How faith can help loosen the grip of urgency and comparison

  • Why you don't necessarily need certainty about the entire path before taking your next step

The 3 Clarity Questions

1. Who do I want to be this season?

Before asking what you want to accomplish, consider who you want to be. Calm? Courageous? Present? Faithful? Grounded?

2. What are my three priorities right now?

Not ten. Not everything you're responsible for. Three. Clarity loves limits.

3. What's my “heck yes” versus my “absolutely not”?

What gives you energy? What consistently drains it? What is the most faithful choice for the season you're actually in—not the season you wish you had time for?

Sometimes clarity doesn't come through a dramatic revelation. Sometimes it comes when we become quiet enough to tell ourselves the truth.

As Juliet reminds us: “Clarity doesn't demand rushing, but it does demand listening.”

Scripture in This Episode

Proverbs 3:5–6 — Trust God rather than believing you have to figure everything out yourself.

Matthew 6:34 — Jesus reminds us not to become consumed by tomorrow. Clarity often lives in today's faithful step.

Your Next Step

Set aside ten quiet minutes and work through the three clarity questions. Don't approach them as another productivity exercise or performance review.

Make them a conversation with God.

You may not walk away knowing exactly what the next year holds—but you may discover that you know far more about your next step than you thought.

Coming Next

In Episode 20, we'll turn from clarity to Energy Mastery: Build Reserves That Last, exploring four essential sources of energy: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual.
